02

During the visit

  • Home-management priorities

A first visit should create clarity—not pressure

The consultation begins with the context behind your symptoms: diagnosis, medical and surgical history, current compression, mobility, skin concerns, previous treatment and what you hope to understand or improve.

Before the visit

  • Bring referral or physician information when available
  • Bring current garments, wraps or bandaging supplies
  • Bring surgical instructions if care is related to a procedure
  • Prepare a medication list and your highest-priority questions

During the visit

The practitioner may assess symptom patterns, tissue and skin observations, tolerance for touch, movement, current self-care and possible precautions. Manual lymph drainage uses light, directional techniques rather than deep pressure.

After the visit

The next step may include treatment, compression education, a home-management plan, medical clearance, coordination with another provider or a recommendation that a different type of care is more appropriate.
